Dental sealants

At Darien Pediatric Dentistry, we use BPA-free dental sealants to help protect teeth from decay.

Sealants are a simple, highly effective way to protect the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where cavities often begin. A thin, tooth-colored coating is gently applied to the grooves of the tooth, creating a protective barrier against plaque, food particles, and acids.

Because these deep grooves can be difficult to clean thoroughly with brushing and flossing alone, sealants offer an added layer of protection.

The process is quick, comfortable, and takes only a few minutes per tooth. Sealants hold up well with normal chewing and can last for several years before they may need to be reapplied.

Both children and adults can benefit from dental sealants as part of a cavity-prevention plan.
