Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)
A gentle, non-invasive treatment that can help slow or stop the progression of certain cavities — no drilling, numbing, or sedation required.
Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that can help slow or stop the progression of certain cavities. It is applied directly to the affected tooth with a small brush and does not require drilling, numbing, or sedation.
SDF can be especially helpful for very young children, children who are anxious about dental treatment, or situations where we want to delay or avoid more involved dental care.
Because SDF can darken the treated area of decay, we will always discuss whether it is the right option for your child and review the benefits and limitations before treatment.
